Let's help prevent the summer slide with The Youth Connection's Summer Learning Connection. Together, we can help children "Slide Safely Into Fall!" Once the school year ends in June, many children leave a secure, educational and inspiring atmosphere and enter a world or boredom and fall into what has been termed the "summer slide." Organizations offering structured educational programs and multiple activities for children are lacking and often under publicized. During this critical time many children fall behind academically. Many more children from low-income families lose the nutritional meals that were provided by schools. The Youth Connection is currently compiling online access to viable summer programs and activities throughout metropolitan Detroit. |
