Q. What is Pastors Cooking for
Kids?
A. Pastors Cooking for Kids Dinner & Silent Auction (PC4K)
is an annual charitable event hosted by Mayor's Time, Inc. The
Pastors
Cooking for Kids is a non-denominational
charitable event developed to support the mission of Mayor's Time.
It is a unified effort between
the religious community in metropolitan Detroit
and Mayor's Time, a community organization to help raise money
to improve opportunities
for children and youth in after-school.
The evening consists of a buffet
of recipes submitted by the Host Chefs and
prepared by the culinary team of the Seldom
Blues Restaurant & Jazz
Supper Club. Guests are encouraged to partake
in various stations of beautifully presented
dishes, while relaxing to jazz music and
networking in a charming yet sophisticated
atmosphere.
Running concurrently with the dinner is a silent auction. The auction
provides an opportunity for guests to bid on a wide variety of donated
items including gourmet dinners, concert tickets, gift certificates,
hotel accommodations, works of art, jewelry, gift baskets, and much,
much more.
Q. How will the funds raised be used?
A. The PC4K raises funds to support the operation
of Mayor's Time, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3)
agency. This includes execution of such
projects as the Mayor’s Time Information
System (data collection and analysis); Mayor’s Time presentation
of the annual After-School / Back to School Enrollment Fair and
other community events; Mayor’s Time Public Safety Academy;
Mayor’s Time website; and providing training and information
to after-school providers.
Q. What is Mayor’s Time?
A. Mayor’s Time is an independent 501(c)(3)
agency established in 1996 by the Robert
Wood Johnson (RWJ) Foundation as part of
their
five-city Urban Health Initiative to improve
the health and safety of children.
Mayor’s Time provides
unique leadership and support for after-school
providers, community organizations, public
departments, and officials, adding significant
value to the process of providing after-school
programming.
